Design/Build is an agreement between you and a design/build firm to create designs, make material selections and complete construction using one contractor. It allows you, the designer, architect/engineer (if applicable) and the contractor to develop a cohesive project plan from the very beginning.

The process begins with an initial consultation meeting where your vision of the project is discussed. You will also talk with the contractor about the projected cost of the project. You and the contractor will sign a design/build agreement and you will pay a retainer fee to move the process into the design phase. When the final design and selections are completed, a construction contract is developed and approved. Once completed, a construction schedule is set, and the project is managed from start to finish by the original design/build firm.
